Change of Pace

August 25, 2010

My co-teacher had trouble reading the very dark “Chaos” theme.  She wasn’t the only one.  I really hope my newly-customized header shows to everyone.  I also need to figure out where the html code is on the wordpress admin page.

Parking Lot

August 25, 2010

Why do we use a Parking Lot?

  • You can have input as to what goes on in your classes.
  • You can ask a question privately but get a public answer.
  • You can share very cool ideas without disrupting the flow of class (I am SO guilty of this!)
  • You can “stick it and forget it”; you know how something can just BUG you and it is all you think about?  Putting it on the Parking Lot can help you move on.

I’ll post some examples of other Parking Lots once I get the RED X thing figured out for pictures on my blog.

So what did you think about our first day and the way we came up with a Code of Cooperation using a “Plus/Delta” chart?

Edupunk?

August 8, 2010

THIS is an interesting commentary on education seeing that it comes from a high school student.

It begins…

Instead of using her graduation speech to celebrate the triumph of her victory, the school, and the teachers that made it happen, she channeled her inner and de-constructed the logic of a valedictorian and the whole educational system.

We’re Always Learning

March 17, 2010

Here’s the link to my infamous Standards Based Education presentation.

I learned more about managing a meeting during that experience than in over 2 years of chairing I-team.

Note to self: AGENDA and Post-It Notes. And a Parking Lot. More on that handy tool later.

Technology

March 12, 2010

We’re in an inservice for using Technology in the classroom and I’m wondering, what can I do better with this? I love technology. I love the web. I love Web 2.0. How can I get my love for this imbedded in my teaching practice in an authentic manner while not ignoring the person-to-person connections we want as teachers?
